One access. Eight brands. All in one place.

The new erWin.

erWin is moving to a new central portal.

On this page, you can see why there is a new erWin, what your benefits are, how the transition works – and what you need to do.

Key points of the transition to the new erWin

  • erWin is being migrated to a new central portal.
  • This gives you centralized access to the repair, maintenance and diagnostic information of the Volkswagen Group brands Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, Audi, SEAT, Cupra, Škoda and Bentley, as well as the diagnostic information of Lamborghini.
  • To use the new erWin, register your company once as a One Business ID. This will be your central company account with central user management.
  • Your previous erWin will remain available for a transition period. You can continue to use already purchased licences there until they expire, and you can transfer annual licences to the new erWin.
  • After the go-live, new licences can only be purchased in the new erWin.

Why is there a new erWin?

Up to now, the different erWin solutions were separated by brand and market. For many workshops, this meant:

  • several entry points for different brands,
  • different user interfaces and access paths,
  • confusing licence management + confusing user management = more administrative effort.

With the new erWin, Volkswagen Group Info Services AG provides a central portal that independent workshops use to access the official repair and maintenance information of the Volkswagen Group brands (Lamborghini diagnostic information only).

This leads to:

  • a clearer structure in how you access the information,
  • one consistent solution for multiple brands,
  • a central company account with clear licence and user management for all employees, branches and sites.
  • a stable, future-ready foundation for further improvements.

Your benefits with the new erWin

  • One access
One central, official portal instead of multiple brand- or market-specific erWin pages. Workshops have a clear login and licence flow for all supported Volkswagen Group brands and all their employees in one place.
  • Eight brands
Access to official repair, maintenance and diagnostic information of olkswagen, Volkswagen Nutzfahrzeuge, Skoda, SEAT, Cupra, Audi and Bentley, as well as the diagnostic information of Lamborghini, aligned with RMI regulation in the supported markets.
  • All in one place
Consolidated licence and user management in one environment, reducing administrative effort and making it easier to keep an overview across brands, licences and users.
  • Plus: Future readiness
A modern, centralised setup with clear governance that can be further developed. For example with improved user journeys, additional functions and more digital support along the end-to-end workshop workflow.

What stays – what changes?

What stays the same?

  • You continue to work with the official repair, maintenance and diagnostic information of the relevant Volkswagen Group brands (Lamborghini diagnostc informaton only).
  • Technical content will continue to be provided in the brands' official systems, although there will be a change in the brands‘ system for RMI data.
  • Existing hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly licenses in the old erWin remain valid until their expiration date; annual licenses can be transferred ot he new erWin.

What changes?

  • Access is provided via a central erWin portal instead of separate solutions.
  • Your company needs a one-time new registration in the new portal (One Business ID). You then create individual users yourself within this central company account. This means separate access points – for different branches, employees, etc. – are a thing of the past.
  • Training data is currently available only through your importer. We are working on integrating training data into the portal at a later date.
  • Once the new erWin portal is launched, new licenses can only be purchased in the new erWin web shop.
  • Licences are purchased for the company (One Business ID) and valid company-wide. Multiple licences can be used simultaneously by multiple employees (one licence per user). Special Multi-user licences allow simultaneous use by up to 5 employees. Multiple multi-user licences can be purchased.
  • The ODIS licence now starts automatically with purchase, like all other time-based licences. The previous practice of manual or delayed licence activation no longer applies.
  • You can now add and store your working context, which is still mandatory for diagnostic licences, centrally in your company profile. In the old erWin, it had to be re-entered for every licence purchase. Existing working context numbers from the old erWin can be reused; you only need to apply for a new one if you don't have one yet.

How the transition works

New erWin version goes live

  • All registered users of the current erWin will be informed as soon as the new erWin is available for them (via e-mail and via notices in the existing erWin).
  • Please note: All current users will receive an information e-mail. The first user who registers a new company under a One Business ID will automatically receive administrator rights. It is therefore best to decide in advance who will be responsible for the central registration and to communicate this internally.

New registration in the new portal

  • Create a new central business account for your company in the new erWin (One Business ID).
  • Activation normally takes only a few seconds. In exceptional cases, however, it can take up to three days, depending on the checks required in the background. Please factor this period into your workshop planning.
  • Afterwards, you can create individual users within your central account, for example for employees, branches, etc.

Transfer annual licence

  • Annual licences can be transferred to the new portal so that the remaining term can be used there. To do this, you will receive a licence ID and an activation code. If you are currently in the old erWin working an an annula licence, both will be sent to you automatically with the go-live in your market from the old system to your e-mail address stored in the old erWin.
  • Please check in the new erWin that everything has been transferred correctly.
  • All other licences can be used up to the end of their term in the old erWin.

Use the new erWin as your main access

  • For new licences and ongoing work, use the new central erWin.
  • From the go-live oft he new erWin in your market on, you will no longer be able to purchase new licences in the old erWin.
  • The previous erWin will only remain available until December 31, 2026, after which it will be permanently shut down.

For diagnostic licences (ODIS), additional prerequisites apply. Please plan this before purchasing.

  • You can use the same working context / Global User ID that you had in the old erWin in the new erWin as well. It is simply stored in your erWin profile and remains permanently available there. Unlike in the old erWin, you do not have to re-enter it every time anymore. If you do not yet have a working context, please request one well in advance.
  • Once the working context is available in your profile, you can download and install ODIS – i.e. before purchasing a diagnostic licence.
  • Purchase the required diagnostic licence in the new erWin. The licence period starts immediately after purchase. Please make sure your working context and ODIS installation are ready beforehand.
  • Use ODIS as usual within the available scope.

Note: Don’t wait until the very last day to register. Register your company early and create the required users so that your access is ready when you need it.

What happens to my licences?

Existing licences in the old erWin

  • You can continue to use your existing licences in the old erWin until their respective expiry date.

Annual licences

  • Annual licences can be transferred to the new portal.
  • The remaining term will then continue in the new erWin.
  • You will automatically receive all information from the old system by e-mail to your email address stored in the old erWin system.

New licences

  • After new erWin is live in your country, new licences can only be purchased in the new erWin.
  • The licence models and conditions (periods and prices) remain unchanged. What's new is the parallel use of licences by multiple employees within your organisation (one licence per user). If anything changes in the future, you will be informed in good time.
  • Please note that newly purchased licences start immediately after purchase. This also applies to diagnostic licences. So please make sure you are ready to work before purchasing a licence.

What do I need to do now?

A short checklist for your planning:

  • Keep an eye on your e-mails and the notifications in the old erWin. You will be informed as soon as the new erWin is available to you.
  • Plan the registration in the new erWin a few days before you actually need access. Since your company only needs to be registered once – and the first user who creates your company automatically receives admin rights – define a central person in your organisation who will take care of this.
  • Have your company details ready so that you can complete the registration quickly.
  • If you have an annual licence, you can transfer the remaining term to the new portal. You will automatically receive all required information for this by e-mail from the old system. After the switchover, please check in the new portal whether your licences and remaining terms are displayed correctly.
  • Use up your existing licences in the old erWin and then use only the new erWin as your primary access.
  • If you use diagnostics (ODIS): once your One Business ID is registered, add your working context / Global User ID to your profile. Existing working context numbers from the old erWin can be reused; you only need to apply for a new one if you don't have one yet. Once available, install ODIS before purchasing a diagnostic licence.

Frequently asked questions from workshops (FAQ)

Yes. The new erWin uses a new central portal. You need a one-time new registration as a business account (One Business ID). You can then create and manage additional users centrally within your new account. Please consider that the first user who creates your company account automatically receives admin rights.

Activation normally takes only a few seconds. In exceptional cases, however, it can take up to three days, depending on the checks required in the background. Please factor this period into your workshop planning.

Yes. The existing erWin will remain accessible for a transition period, so that you can continue to use your existing licences there until they expire. On Dec 31st 2026 finally access will be switched off and only the new erWin will be available.

The current licence models and conditions remain in place. If anything changes in the future, you will be informed in advance.

Training data is currently available only through your importer. We are working on integrating this into the portal in the future.

Yes. Licences are purchased for the company (One Business ID) and valid company-wide. Multiple licences can be used simultaneously by multiple employees (one licence per user). The condition is that all users are registered within the same organisation (One Business ID). For RMI special multi-user licences allow simultaneous use by up to 5 employees. Multiple multi-user licences can be purchased. ODIS does not offer special multi-user licenses.

Licences are valid company-wide within the same organisation (same One Business ID / company account). Multiple licences from the company can be used simultaneously by multiple employees (one licence per user). The condition is that all users are registered within the same organisation (One Business ID). For RMI special multi-user licences allow simultaneous use by up to 5 employees. Multiple multi-user licences can be purchased. ODIS does not offer special multi-user licenses.

Your annual licence can be transferred to the new portal. The remaining term will then be available to you there.

The new erWin gives you central access to repair, maintenance, and diagnostic information for Volkswagen, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, Skoda, SEAT, Cupra, Audi, and Bentley, as well as diagnostic information for Lamborghini, aligned with RMI regulation in the supported markets.

In the new erWin, you have one central company account that you manage yourself. It’s best to define an internal person in charge for this right from the start. Individual users, branches etc. can then be created and managed centrally within this account. This means the previous unclear and separated access structures are a thing of the past.

The working context is a mandatory requirement for ODIS. In the new erWin, it is stored centrally in your profile and remains available once it has been set up. In the old erWin, it had to be entered for each licence purchase, that is no longer necessary. Existing working context numbers from the old erWin can be reused. Only if you don't have a working context yet, please apply for it.

Yes. Once your working context is available in your profile, you can download and install ODIS – i.e. before purchasing a diagnostic licence.

The licence period starts immediately after purchase. We therefore recommend installing ODIS before purchasing (once the working context is available in your profile) so you don’t lose licence time.

For diagnostic licences, you must have a working context / Global User ID added to your profile before purchasing. Existing working context numbers from the old erWin can be reused. If you don't have one yet, please request a working context and add it to your account. Once it is available, you can purchase the diagnostic licence in the new erWin.
