Contracting

General questions about contracting

To access data solutions, the following contractual steps are required:

Enter into a Framework Agreement:

This Agreement establishes a contractual foundation between you, the Volkswagen Group Info Services AG and all participating brands from the Volkswagen Group. It enables you to start the process to license data from all included brands under a unified legal framework. You will only need this step once.

Select and Subscribe to a Data Solution:

Once the Framework Agreement is in place, you can choose the data solution that best fits your needs. A subscription is completed by accepting the terms and conditions in the Product Specific Appendix. Each data solution has its own Appendix, which includes specific technical and contractual provisions tailored to that solution. You can enter into as many Product Specific Appendixes as solutions you subscribe to.

After entering into any agreements with us, you will receive an eamil with your closed contract.

Framework Agreement and Subscriptions

Framework Agreement

The Framework Agreement covers all legal overarching topics, such as Rights and Obligations, Confidentiality, or Export Control, in the commercial relation among you, Volkswagen Group Info Services AG and all participating brands of the Volkswagen Group. It enables you to start the process to license data of all brands.

The Framework Agreement has been designed as a standardized set of terms and conditions, so while we can’t negotiate individual terms, we’d be happy to clarify any points or answer questions you may have.

Once the framework agreement is closed you can start your subscription journey to various data solutions.

Yes, you can review the terms and conditions of the Framework Agreement [here].

Subscription

A Product Subscription is an agreement that gives you controlled and ongoing access to specific data products. It defines what data you can use, how you can access it (e.g., via APIs, or portals), and for what Purpose. Each subscription is tied to a particular data product, and you may hold multiple subscriptions if you need access to different products. Contractually, each subscription is documented in a dedicated Product Specific Appendix, ensuring clarity on scope, usage, and obligations.

Yes, you can review and save the terms and conditions of the Product Subscription [here].

A subscription is required to clearly define and govern how data solutions are accessed and used. It ensures that you receive the right data in the right way, tailored to your purpose, while also protecting data ownership, compliance, and security. By formalizing the relationship, the subscription provides transparency on scope, responsibilities, and permitted usage, helping both parties operate with clarity and trust.

No, the subscription process cannot be paused and resumed later. If you exit before completing it, your data will not be saved, and you will need to restart the process from the beginning.

It is possible to subscribe to multiple solutions; however, each solution requires a separate subscription process that must be completed individually.

The elements of a Product Subscription are standardized and not open to negotiation. However, if you have questions or need clarification about specific aspects of the subscription, please feel free to contact us

You are required to assess and select your GDPR role to clearly document legal responsibilities and ensure personal data is handled in compliance with the law. This defines accountability and safeguards proper data protection practices. Here you can find more information about GDPR roles.

The Purpose of Use is a prerequisite and essential factor why personal data can be collected and further processed. It defines and limits the processing activities. To comply with the GDPR, every processing of personal data must be carried out for a specified, explicit and legitimate purpose. This ensures transparency, lawfulness, legal compliance and responsible data handling.

The available Purposes of Use differ depending on the specific data solution. Here you can find a holistic overview of the Purpose of Use for each solution.

If none of the listed Purposes match your intended use, please contact us.

Yes, a 4-week testing period is available after subscribing to a data solution and having full access to it. This allows you to evaluate the data solution and ensure that all technical requirements are functioning smoothly before entering into a full subscription.

The business storage period refers to the timeframe during which data may be retained for operational or contractual Purposes as commercially agreed. In contrast, the retention period under the GDPR is the duration for which personal data may be kept according to the GDPR principles. It is based on the principle of data minimization and storage limitation, meaning personal data must be deleted or anonymized once they are no longer necessary for the  purpose for which they are being processed.
