COOKIE POLICY

The terms and expressions in capital letters used in this Cookie Policy have the meanings set forth in our Privacy Policy. Additionally, the definitions in Art. 4 of the GDPR shall apply.

Volkswagen Group Info Services AG uses various cookies on the website and the Data Hub. Cookies are small files with configuration information that are stored on your terminal device and enable the website operator to recognize your device.

General information about cookies

There are basically three categories of cookies: cookies that are essential for the functionality of the website (“Functional Cookies”), cookies that increase the comfort of a website visit and, for example, save your language settings (“Comfort Cookies”), and cookies that are used to create a pseudonymised user profile (“Tracking Cookies”).

  • The processing of the Function Cookies is necessary to enable your visit to the website (cf. Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. b GDPR).

  • The legal basis for Comfort Cookies is a legitimate interest (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR). The legitimate interest is providing comfort when visiting the website. You can object to data processing at any time with effect for the future. Further information can be found in our privacy policy.

  • Tracking Cookies are only set if the website visitor has given their consent (Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. a GDPR). Consent is given via the so-called cookie banner, which must be actively clicked on.

Furthermore you can revoke your consent to the data processing described above by using the listed cookies and tracking tools at any time with effect for the future by clicking on the following link and changing your currently set preferences in our Cookie Consent Manager:

Within the above mentioned categories of cookies there are several types of cookies. Here are the most common types of cookies for your understanding:

1. Session Cookies: While you are active on a website, a session cookie is temporarily stored in the memory of your computer in which a session ID is stored, e.g. to store a session cookie. For example, to avoid having to log in every time you switch pages. Session cookies are deleted at logoff or lose their validity as soon as their session expires automatically.

2. Persistent or Protocol Cookies: A persistent or history cookie stores a file on your computer for the period of time specified in the expiration date. Through these cookies, websites remember your information and settings on your next visit. This leads to a faster and more convenient access. For example, you will not have to change your language setting for our portal again. When the expiration date expires, the cookie is automatically deleted when you visit the website that created it.

3. Third Party Cookies: Third-party cookies come from providers other than the operator of the website. For example, they can be used to collect information for advertising, custom content, and web statistics.

4. Flash Cookies: Flash cookies are stored as data elements of web pages on your computer when they are operated with Adobe Flash. Flash cookies have no time limit.

II. Adobe Analytics

  • This website uses the web analysis tool Adobe Analytics to evaluate user access to this website. Data processing is in so far based on your consent (Article 6 paragraph 1 letter a GDPR).

  • For evaluation purposes, cookies are stored on your terminal device and information about them is collected, which is also stored on servers of our data processor Adobe Systems Software Ireland Limited ("Adobe"). Access to the information by Adobe Systems Incorporated, a U.S.-based company, cannot be excluded. EU standard contractual clauses have been concluded, to offer adequate safeguards on data protection for the processing in non-European countries. You have the right to be informed about these standard contractual clauses as part of the information provided. A direct personal reference of the information stored on the Adobe servers is excluded, because Adobe Analytics is used with the settings "Before Geo-Lookup: Replace visitor's last IP octet with 0" and "Obfuscate IP-Removed". The setting "Before Geo-Lookup: Replace visitor's last IP octet with 0" ensures that the IP address is anonymized by replacing the last octet of the IP address with zeros before this so-called geolocalization. The approximate location of the user is added to the tracking packet for statistical evaluation, which still contains the full IP address. Before the tracking packet is saved, the IP address is replaced by a single fixed IP address - this is called a generic IP address - if the setting "Obfuscate IP -Removed" is configured. This means that the IP address is no longer contained in a stored data record.
